A diamond tipped tool is used to crack the shiny surface of the granite. Fine detail and contrast is achieved when this method is used on a dark solid colour granite. The etching on the right also incorporates slight sandblasting on this softer granite. Etching is done entirely by hand in my shop as opposed to computer operated machinery.
